This Sunday, December 17, the Chancel Choir will sing during both the 8:40am and 10:45am worship services, presenting "A Ceremony of Carols, Op 28" by Benjamin Britten. The work consists of eleven movements, with text from "The English Galaxy of Shorter Poems", edited by Gerald Bullett. The piece was written in 1942 while Britten was at sea, going from the United States to England.
The Chancel Choir will present the five movements of the work that are most related to the Christmas season.
In addition to the organ, the piece will also be accompanied by a harp.
