Voyage Into DiscipleSHIP!

All aboard the DiscipleShip, our rotation model for children’s education! Each week children meet in the Landing room to hear the opening story. From there they divide into age groups and travel with their Navigator to themed workshops. They may end up in the Lighthouse to hear and act out the Bible story, or they might go to the Market to create handmade crafts and artwork like those in Bible times. Through the course of a five week rotation, every group will have traveled to all the workshop areas, providing children with a multi-intelligence approach to becoming disciples of God!

Logos (log`os)

In John 1:1-8, Logos, from Greek, means “Word.” “In the beginning was the Word…and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us…” Logos is a ministry that provides in-depth and well-rounded Christian nurture for the children in grades K through 5. The Wednesday afternoon program is a combination of Bible Study, recreation, worship skills and dinner. It meets from 2:45 to 6:00 p.m. throughout the school year. Parent Manuals are available with more information about this ministry. For more information about Logos please visit the Logos Page by clicking here. Find out more about Logos

Worship and Wonder

Worship and Wonder is for children ages 5 through 2nd grade. Meeting in the chapel during the 10:45 worship hour, Children Worship and Wonder engages children in a worship service sensitive to their developmental level. Worship and Wonder will meet every Sunday year round except for Family Sundays (which coordinate with the LOGOS singing schedule) and during Church Holidays (i.e., Christmas, Easter, Palm Sunday).

Following Jesus

Following Jesus worship is for children in 3rd and 4th grades. Children will begin worship with their parents in the sanctuary during the 10:45 service and during the second hymn will join a worship leader at the back of the sanctuary and continue worship in the pathfinders room (behind the balcony of the sanctuary), returning to the sanctuary after the sermon. The Following Jesus service follows the Worship and Wonder format and schedule meeting every Sunday of the year except for Family Sundays and Church Holidays.

Music Programs for Children

Logos Children’s Choir offers an opportunity for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade to celebrate their faith through song with Christine Hrubik as director and Jenifer Buyten as accompanist. Logos Choir is a part of the Logos Wednesday after-school children’s ministry program. Logos Choir sings in worship one time per month during the school year.

Logos Hand Chimes offers an opportunity to use tone chimes as an expression of worship. The chimes group is for children in 1st through 5th grade. Logos Hand Chimes practice on Wednesday afternoons during Logos and participate in worship services as scheduled.

Pre-School Choir children will sing in the worship service in December, February, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day. They rehearse during Sunday School.

Nursery

Provides essential care and play activities for infants through 15 month-olds with some music and story time. Silent pagers are available upon request.

Toddler Class (15 months to 2 ½ year olds)

Participants take part in a lesson and activity during church school hour. Songs, stories and active play are all essential parts of helping children form their own sense of God and begin to know Jesus.

Pre-School (2 ½ years olds out of diapers and 3 year olds)

This class utilizes storytelling, arts and crafts, and directed play to begin to form an understanding of what this building the church is and who these mysterious people called Jesus and his disciples are.

4 Year Olds (by September 1) and Pre-K

Singing, arts and crafts, and learning the foundational Biblical Stories characterize this class. Lessons with this age group help our kids begin the process of growing into a relationship with God, through some of our favorite bible stories. Extended care is offered during the worship service.

Pastors Class

Pastors Class is offered during the Wednesday afternoon Logos program during the Spring semester of the school year. The Pastor’s class is for 5th graders with the focus of the study being baptism, church membership, communion, and living the Christian life. At the conclusion of the Pastor’s Class, some will choose to be baptized, with the service of baptism held on the Sunday following Easter, or any other Sunday that accommodates the family schedule.

Summer Church Camps

Available to children who have completed the 2nd Grade and older. A variety of summer camp experiences are available through the regional church, with offerings of at least two camps for each age group. Partial scholarships for camps are made available by the church and details are available at the church office.

Vacation Bible School

Offered for four days during the summer on consecutive evenings. Children (ages 3 through 5th grade) are immersed in Biblical times, wearing costumes and learning the practices and ways of the first century church. This interactive approach allows participants not only to learn the stories of our faith, but also to participate in them as well.
