CHILDREN’S SERVICES

The Church School is an important component of our congregation’s educational program.  Church school begins at 9:30 and ends at 10:30.  Please call the church office at 405-329-2192 for more information.

  • NURSERY

Nursery provides essential care and play activities for infants through 15 month-olds with some music and story time.  The nursery is located in room #103 on the lower level.  We provide nursery care for both worship services at 8:40 and 10:45.

  • TODDLER CLASS

Toddler Class (15 months to 2.5 year olds) has play activities and music during church school and extended care is offered during the worship service.  The toddler class is located in room #102 of the lower level.

  • 2.5 - 4 YEAR OLDS

2.5 - 4 Year Olds meet in room #101 on the lower level.   Singing and learning the Biblical Stories are part of this class.

  • 4 - PRE-K

4 - Pre K meets in room #105 of the lower level.  Singing, arts and crafts, and learning the Biblical Stories characterize this class.

  • K - 5TH GRADE

K - 5th Grade – Voyage Into Discipleship is our rotation model for children’s education!  Each week children meet on the 3rdfloor in the Landing room to hear the opening story.  From there they divide into age groups and travel with their Navigator to themed workshops.  Through the course of a rotation, every class will have traveled to all the workshop areas, providing children with a multi-intelligence approach to becoming disciples of God!  Voyage is located on the third floor above the church office.  Children in 3rd—5th grades can be picked up at 10:30 on the third floor.  Children K-2nd are escorted directly to Children Worship and Wonder in the Chapel.

  • WORSHIP AND WONDER

Worship and Wonder is for children ages 5 through 2nd grade.  Meeting in the chapel during the 10:45 worship hour, Children Worship and Wonder engages children in a worship service sensitive to their developmental level.  Worship and Wonder will meet every Sunday year round except for Family Sundays (which coordinate with the LOGOS singing schedule) and during Church Holidays (i.e., Christmas, Easter, Palm Sunday).

  • FOLLOWING JESUS WORSHIP

Following Jesus Worship is for children in 3rd and 4th grades.  Children will begin worship with their parents in the sanctuary during the 10:45 service and then will join a worship leader at the back of the sanctuary and continue worship in the Pathfinders room (behind the balcony), returning to the sanctuary after the sermon.  The Following Jesus service follows the Worship and Wonder format and schedule, meeting every Sunday of the year except for Family Sundays and Church Holidays.

  • YOUTH MEMBERSHIP CLASS

Youth Membership Class is offered during the Logos Bible study time and is targeted to 5th graders.  This class is for those who are considering baptism, and provides an opportunity to explore the beliefs and practices of the Christian faith, as well as the particular beliefs and practices of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  Many who participate will choose to be baptized at the conclusion of the class.

  • LOGOS

Logos (log`os)  In John 1:1-8, Logos, from Greek, means “Word.”  “In the beginning was the Word…and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us…”   Logos is a ministry that provides in-depth and well-rounded Christian nurture for the children in grades K through 5.  The Wednesday afternoon program is a combination of Bible Study, recreation, worship skills and dinner.  It meets from 2:45 to 6:00 p.m. throughout the school year.  Parent manuals are available with more information about this ministry.

  • SUMMER CHURCH CAMPS

Summer Church Camps are available to children who have completed the 2nd grade and older.  Partial scholarships for camps are made available by the church and details are available at the church office.

  • VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Vacation Bible School is offered for four days during the summer on consecutive evenings.  Children (ages 3 through 5th grade) are immersed in Biblical times, wearing costumes and learning the practices and ways of the first century church.  This interactive approach allows participants not only to learn the stories of our faith, but also to participate in them as well.

  • SPECIAL EVENTS

Special Events are planned for children throughout the year including Trunk or Treat, the Easter Festival, Christmas Pageant, and Earth Day Stewardship.

  • ACOLYTES

Acolytes light candles at the beginning of both services.  These are children in 3rd through 5th grades.

  • WORSHIP KITS

Worship Kits containing quiet worship minded activities are available for children during the worship services.  Kits can be found on the third floor in the Voyage Sunday School area, beside the landing room and can be returned at the end of worship.
